Dry: the most common type where waste accumulates at the back of the eye and causes your central vision to gradually decrease.
Wet: the more severe of the two which causes new blood vessels to grow at the back of the eye. These vessels are weak and fragile, often leaking blood into the back of the retina. The blood in turn causes scarring and blocks out your central vision.
Macular degeneration can be brought on by factors like age and family history. Early detection is the key to better prognosis so regular eye tests are crucial.
