Astigmatism occurs due to the irregular shape of the cornea or the lens inside the eye.
Uncorrected astigmatism can cause the same symptoms as long and shortsightedness!
If you have astigmatism your Eyelines optometrist can help you see more clearly and more comfortably by prescribing glasses or contact lenses to aid your vision. They can also advise on other options such as orthokeratology and laser corrective surgery. It is also important to rule out any underlying corneal problem such as keratoconus which may need treatment.
